Decal Installation Best Practices:

  1. Make sure that the surface you are applying the decal to is completely clean and dry.  We recommend using window/glass cleaner, isopropyl alcohol, or even acetone to clean the surface prior to decal installation.  Choose a cleaning product that will be safe for your target surface.
  2. Before removing the backing paper from your decal, place it on a flat surface and rub the application tape layer (which covers the decal) firmly and thoroughly with a finger or thumb, to ensure that the decal is attached to the application tape.
  3. Then flip the decal over and peel back an edge of the backing paper.  Peel back the backing paper slowly, at a sharp angle to the application tape, keeping an eye on the decal itself to make sure it is coming off the backing paper and staying on the application tape (see the Slate Wheel Decal Video above for a demonstration).  Sometimes, small details on a complex decal can stay attached to the backing paper.  In that case, push that section of the backing paper back down onto the application tape, apply pressure to re-attach the vinyl to the application tape, and then pull the backing paper off again.
  4. After applying the decal onto your target surface with the application tape, rub the application tape firmly and thoroughly with a finger/thumb to ensure the decal has adhered completely to the surface.  Then begin peeling the application tape slowly and at a sharp angle to the vinyl.  If any vinyl stays on the application tape, lay that section of tape back onto the surface, rub firmly over the vinyl, and then slowly pull the tape back off, at as sharp an angle as possible to the vinyl
